Coffee is my cardio — literally. I’m on a never-ending search to learn about the bean and find the best coffee shops in Los Angeles. With many local brews at Los Angeles Coffee Festival, I knew I had to go. It did not disappoint!
In fact, I was greeted with so many coffee-related products upon arrival, that it was kind of overwhelming in a good way. There were a variety of booths with everything from espresso machines, to the perfect chocolate to pair with a cup of coffee, to alcoholic coffee! The most exciting thing for me? Latte art live!

Latte art live felt like a sporting event. There were live cameras rigged above coffee with baristas eagerly whipping up the perfect drink. Coffee fans cheered them on and action aired live on TVs!
While I’m not a professional barista, I like to dabble with making my own coffee at home. I thought the festival would be a great spot to hone my latte-making skills.

I got a lesson from master-barista Sarah Anderson. She is part of the Intelligentsia Coffee team and walked me through her process of crafting the perfect latte. The milk needs to have thick-paint texture, and the height the coffee is poured at has everything to with the look. Check out the video below to see her best tips!
If you love coffee, but don’t live near LA or weren’t able to make its, don’t worry. There are other similar festivals in New York & London, so you’ll have to check them out.
